VINNIE’S PIZZA MATH

HOW MANY SLICES IN A LARGE PIZZA?

A quick pizza size guide: typical slice counts, surface area, and what each size really feeds.

Pizza size guide

Slice counts vary by pizzeria, but these are the standard cuts you’ll see in most shops.

SizeDiameterTypical slicesSurface areaFeeds about
Small10"678.5 sq in1–2
Medium12"8113.1 sq in2–3
Large14"8–10153.9 sq in3–4
Extra Large16"12201.1 sq in4–5

Why slice count is only half the story

A 14-inch large pizza cut into 10 slices and a 16-inch extra-large cut into 12 slices might sound close, but the XL has roughly 30% more pizza. That is why Vinnie plans by surface area and appetite, not just slices.

How many slices of pizza per person?

For adults, about 2.75 slices is a solid planning average. Teens tend to eat closer to 3 slices, and younger kids usually finish around 2. Adjust up for hungry crowds or down if you are serving wings, salad, appetizers, or dessert.
